The sites we have identified as available now can accommodate a maximum of 300 students. Many new state secondary schools only accept year 9 students on opening, and then have year 9 and 10 students in their second year. They take 5 years to become full secondary schools.
It is our intention to accept enrolments from Years 11-14 from Term One 2025. We expect most of our enrolments to be Year 12 and 13 students returning to school to finish off qualifications. The question is how many enrolments will we have?
Our estimate is that we will have 100-120 enrolments at the beginning of Term One and 200 by the end of the year. We have had a great deal of interest from youth with whom we are currently involved. One of the main reasons Auckland Sports College is opening as a single-sex (boys) school is to limit student numbers.
